This year, Johns of Instow reaches an incredible milestone—100 years in the heart of our seaside village! Since 1926, we’ve been proud to serve our local community and visitors alike, sharing our love for delicious food, unique flavours, and the stories that make our village so special.
A Century of Heritage
From our humble beginnings to becoming a 4th generation, award-winning delicatessen, Johns of Instow has always been about more than just great food. It’s about community, family, and the memories we create together. Every corner of our shop tells a story, from the jars on the shelves to the recipes passed down through generations.
Honouring Our Past
Our history is full of fascinating tales—like Ricard “Dickie” Johns, aka Low Water Dick, who ferried passengers and goods across the estuary at Instow and Appledore around the turn of the 20th century. Stories like his inspire us to create products like our Johns Gin, capturing the essence of our coastline and our heritage in every sip.
